New mall construction to affect home prices

Everyone's seen the new construction along Bay Vista Highway. But many of you may not be aware of the impact that development will have on your property values. Retail improvements like this directly affect the value of your home. Over the past 20 years, I've appraised properties in cities both before and after the addition of these kinds of developments. I can tell you that normally, you'll see a modest 1% increase in the price of your home.

I'm not sure that the mall is going to help me as my house is right across the street.
